500 orphaned or vulnerable children (OVC) in 150 families are supported, impacting
over 3000 people directly and the community as a whole.
Support is given to caregivers or
extended family to enable them to raise these children within their
community of origin rather than moving them to orphanages.
Families in crisis
are identified by local community structures (health workers and
educators) and are supported with food parcels, school uniforms and school stationery.
They are
visited, monitored and counselled where
necessary. We seek to empower families to avoid dependence
on handouts and to ensure that poverty is not perpetuated.
